Blog - Welcome To The Agrarian Blog (03/08/2011)

Well it's late July and this is the first page of the new Agrarian Blog - so here goes!

Firstly just an update as to progress on various projects; this month we have gained planning approval for the extension of a veterinary clinic; we have obtained quotes from contractors to undertake the works, with the best price being some 30% cheaper than the builder previously used by the client.  This is some considerable saving! (And I hasten to add will more than cover our fees!!) Any other time I would be worried about such a price differential, however I know that this particular contractor will do a great job as they have undertaken similar projects in the past.  The works are due to start on site next month?  So we will keep you posted.  The project is to be fast tracked to ensure that the client can open as soon as possible.

We have also gained planning approval for a major film company for the creation of an entertainment terrace in central London. This crucial area has been sought to allow both the staff and clients to gain a much needed chill out space. More on this project in later blogs.

On the residential front we have gained planning for a flat development within the Midlands area.  This is a great project, although the client is based in Spain with the advent of emails etc. we have been able to negotiate and liase to ensure our clients wishes and needs have been fulfilled.

We received a telephone call today from a client we had gained planning for some log cabins within the grounds of his property, pleased as punch as works are currently under way and he said he would email over some pictures of the finished project, as soon as we have some we will post them on the site.

Also a first for us we have been appointed by two generations of the same family on two residential projects in the West Country, the two teams are a mother and father and then the daughter and son in law.  I’m beginning to see similarities already in the family members; I wonder how competitive they get?

I would also like to take this opportunity of praising the chaps at Bath and North East Somerset Building Control Department, for their on going assistance and help. We are currently a Partnering Company with them for Building Control Applications; it has proved very useful and helpful to both ourselves and ultimately our clients, so credit where credit is due.
